We’re off to the market!

November 3, 2007

Looks like we’ll be wearing our long Johns to the farmers market today!  Bernie’s windshield is covered in frost and the corner of Vine and Upper Street happens to be one of the windiest corners in Lexington.  So, it looks like a very cool morning until the sun comes out.

The one good thing is Drew is cooking up a batch of Cowboy Beans’n Sausage soup for the sampling today so we’ll have a hot cooker to help keep our hands warm!  I’ll post the recipe and some market pictures tomorrow…promise.  I’m still trying to get my  morning eyes open!

I can’t wait to see what goodies the market brings this week.  We have some great farmer friends who like to share or barter with us so we always come home with bags full of “stuff!”  Last week we got a huge thing that the farmer called a “pumpkin squash!”  Can’t say that it looked like a pumpkin but it sure did taste like one and our freezer now has some wonderful pumpkin butter in it.  Boy, will that ever taste good this winter with some hot biscuits….yummmm, I can almost taste them now. :)

Well, I’m off to the shower.  Hope you all have a wonderful day and if you happen to be in Lexington, KY today make sure you stop by and visit the Herb’n Renewal booth at the Lexington Farmers’ Market.  We’ll be there smiling all day!
